For all of the GOP pundits out there that are continuning to call Obama just another “typical politician”, please continue to do so.
As long as you continue to call him “typical” then he can no longer be an elitist, a Muslim, a radical Islamist, and all of the other ridiculous things that you want him to be on any given day of the week. If he is a “typical politician” than he can’t possibly fall into the other 30 characterizations you have placed on him.
Political Insider has a great piece on this very subject today where they discuss how the GOP are trying to portray Obama as typical, based on some recent remarks and decisions that he has put forth.
Also, if Obama is just another “typical politician” wouldn’t that make him like the 50 or so percent of politicians in America that are Republican? This argument then basically says that those Republicans are just “typical politicians”. That is not a very good platform to try and run on if you ask me. This would then fall right back on McCain and immediately squash his “maverick” status that he loves to talk about.
As long as Obama is portrayed as “typical” then he immediately becomes a safe choice in the eyes of the average American voter. He is no longer radical, or arrogant, or elite, if he is “typical”. Suddenly, he falls right in line with exactly what most Americans are comfortable voting for, which makes him look even more appealing in the general election than he already is.
So please tell all your friends, and all of your family, and all of your colleagues that Sen. Barack Obama is just another “typical politician”. Make sure you drive this home each and every chance that you get because by doing that, you actually help Obama fight every attack that the right-wing nutcases can throw at him. They can’t have it both ways which they are clearly trying to do.

1That’s actually a good idea I never thought of it that way. Mainly, because the generic polls showing which as president do you want the democrats score nearly 20% higher then the republicans. So if they make Obama into a generic “typical” democrat then he would de better. The other side of that argument is that turn out might be down. But, making Obama into a typical politician is a very good idea. I hope the republicans continue their faulty strategy.

2@sensico:
Sometimes it is amazing at just how easy is it to beat the Republicans at their own games.
