In a move that was widely expected by many, NBC News announced today that Tom Brokaw will take over as anchor of Meet The Press through the remainder of the election cycle.
As for a more permanent anchor once the election season is over, I suspect that it could possibly be Tom Brokaw, although I believe that is unlikely.
Tim Russert cannot be replaced, but if I were to recommend someone to take over the show that has the same passion and integrity that Tim Russert had, I can simply look no further than Chuck Todd as my choice as new anchor. It is likely a long shot, but one that I would love to see happen.

1In this day and age, shows with a lengthy run, whether it is political, reality, or comedy based, are leaning toward cutting edge hosts, so Mr. todd might could hold that type of audience. however, someone such as, ah, George Stephonopholis, could pull the new republican as well as the old democrats into things together, so it is obvious that G.S. is a leading candidate.
Remember I said it.
