Now that the general election has started, you would think that the major media would finally start calling out John McCain on his daily lies, yet for some reason they have yet to do so.

Here is the latest lie from John McCain, this time on privatizing Social Security:

The presumptive Republican nominee said at a town hall in Nashua, “I am not for privatizing Social Security. I never have been. I never will be.”

Well, wouldn’t you know it. Once again, YouTube begs to differ with John McCain on that statement.

This is McCain speaking in 2004:

Notice the important line from the video……

“Without privatization, I don’t see how you can possibly, over time, make sure that young Americans are able to receive Social Security benefits.”

What I find odd is that this is almost a far too regular thing for McCain, yet unless it gets called out by the blogosphere or some other smaller media outlets, it goes unnoticed and unquestioned.

Where is the main stream media to report this stuff when it needs to be reported? Where are the tough and direct questions when McCain is making the rounds on the cable shows? How can McCain possibly be getting such an easy pass on this stuff?

The fact that John McCain changes his position on a weekly basis is certainly a cause for some concern. If McCain cannot take a direct stand on any particular issue, how can we expect him to take a stand for the American people? And, if he does take that stand and then later changes it when it benefits the moment, why should he be given a clear pass on doing so?

We all remember what flip-flopping did to the 2004 John Kerry campaign, and that was just one instance of doing so. McCain seems to do it each week, and then pretend like it is the position he has always had.

McCain’s gross misconception that the American people are stupid, cannot and should not continue to work to his advantage. Back in the 80’s and 90’s McCain would have fully gotten away with these tactics, and maybe that is the problem, he thinks he still can, but not now, not in this 24/7 recorded world we live in.

My only hope is that the media will stop worrying about whether Obama is black enough, or not black enough, or anti-muslim enough, or anti-terrorist enough, and start worrying about the fact that while Obama continues to get raked over the coals for irrelevant stuff, John McCain is floating along like a feather in the breeze, complete with free media pass.

MSM, please do your job. All that we ask is that you report the facts when they happen, as they happen. Is that so hard to do? While there are members of the media out there that are doing a great job, they are getting outweighed by the side that continues to let things go, forget things happened, and turn a blind eye to the lies that are staring them in the face.

Surely this won’t continue, yet I have seen no evidence to the contrary coming from the majority of the media.
