According to First Read, a 20% turnout increase breaking 60%-40% for Obama would swing four states from red to blue.
Iowa, New Mexico, Nevada, and Ohio called all be major factors in the general election if the voter turnout meets or exceeds the rise that we saw in the Democratic primary. If Obama wins the new voters by a 65%-35% margin, two more states come over, Colorado and Florida, with another, Virginia, essentially too close too call.
Voter turnout in this election cycle has been higher than any other election in recent history, and many people that plan to vote in the general, did not vote in the primaries. Turnout is expected to be at an all-time high across the nation.
