The Barack Obama campaign have officially formed a team of senior staff members for the sole purpose of combating viral internet rumors that have become a problem for him during his campaign.

Probably the most viral of these attacks, the one where Obama is “some kind of Muslim Manchurian candidate, planted by Islamic fundamentalists to betray the country and it is very widespread,” has certainly been a sticking point for quite a while now.

Did people suddenly forget what Google was?

It literally amazes me at the amount of people that cannot or will not do a simple Google search to quickly find out about things that they hear or read in an email.

These viral rumors get started, mostly by people against Obama, and they quickly get spread around in an email flurry that can often make even the most seasoned spammer jealous.

Just the mere fact that Obama would have to build and dedicate an entire team to defeating internet rumors is amazing to me. That certainly goes to show you just what the other side is willing to do in order to keep him out of the White House.
