Here in my great state of South Carolina, it is red…..really red.
With that being said, you would think that John McCain could muster up at least 50% of the vote in South Carolina, but according to the newest Rasmussen SC poll, he can’t:
McCain - 48%
Obama - 39%
This is the same state that Bush carried in 2004, with 58% of the vote.
Now, this is not to say that South Carolina is going blue anytime soon, cause I highly doubt that. But, it does say that Obama could certainly make it closer this cycle than previous cycles. With a strong turnout of the college/youth vote and really good showing from the African-American crowd, Obama could really make South Carolina a close race.
I am sure that SC is not on the Obama priority list, as other states in the South really have a chance of going blue, but it is still a state that he should some time in and see if he can bring that gap a little closer.
