Over the last several days, a new problem has arisen for Barack Obama in the form of another pastor making ridiculous statements from the pulpit.

We know this story all too well, as no one will ever forget the hype that Rev. Jeremiah Wright caused with his statements just a few weeks back. At that time, Barack Obama did what any person would do, which is denounce the statements and disassociate himself with Rev. Wright.

Now that Father Pfleger has taken the opportunity to make some rather idiotic statements, the media is once again pushing the story as though this will be another big problem for Obama. As news of this story broke, I couldn’t help but ask a simple question….

Why should Obama be punished for the greedy acts of others?

Let’s be very clear here, Pfleger made these comments knowing full well that they would be picked up by the media and scrutinized to the fullest extent. I believe that Pfleger used his time at the pulpit, in Barack Obama’s church, for the shear opportunity to gain exposure for himself.

How anyone can associate that with a “problem for Barack Obama” is beyond me. Too often, we see people take advantage of others simply because they know that doing so will provide them an avenue that they normally would never have. I believe that very situation has presented itself here and Pfleger is getting exactly what he set out to get, which is quite a large amount of media attention.

But to turn this around and somehow punish Barack Obama for the actions of a man he has no control over is simply idiotic. Barack has now resigned from the church and that is a personal decision that he made. I agree with his decision to do that, as the church was likely going to continue making a spectacle of itself anyway.

The actions of Pfleger were acts of greed, no matter how you look at it. He went into Barack’s former church and gave a sermon that he knew would make headlines. It was’nt a spur of the moment decision, it was a fully planned, prepared sermon that he knew would cause a stir. And then to later come out and apologize for his statements, makes him look even more ridiculous.

To somehow make this into a Barack Obama problem is just simply unacceptable and something that I will never fully grasp. That is a move that I expect from the GOP and the right-wing machine in this country, because it fits their agenda to do so.

If there any voters out there that would let an incident like this affect their vote, then it is really likely that Obama never really needed their vote, or their support to begin with.
