When you think of John McCain being the President of the United States, the first thing that comes to mind is his stance and experience on foreign policy. The problem is, based on his recent statements, he is just as weak there as he is on anything else.

“Senator Obama has consistently offered his judgment on Iraq, and he has been consistently wrong. He said that General Petraeus’ new strategy would not reduce sectarian violence, but would worsen it. He was wrong. He said the dynamics in Iraq would not change as a result of the ’surge.’ He was wrong. One year ago, he voted to cut off all funds for our forces fighting extremists in Iraq. He was wrong…”

Sorry, Mr. McCain is the one that is wrong here. Speaking directly on the “surge” that we completed shows just how wrong he is. The surge didn’t work as planned, most anyone can see that. Did it work at all? Of course, anytime you load up a particular area with twice as many soldiers, you are bound to see results move to your favor.

It is holding that result in your favor that is difficult, which the surge did not do. The surge did not allow the Iraqi forces to expand better, it did not allow the Iraqi government to progress any better and it didn’t stop the excessive violence very long at all.

McCain continues to say that having meetings with rogue leaders is a bad idea. I find this idea extremely idiotic on McCain’s part.

“I don’t fear to negotiate. Instead I have the knowledge and experience to understand the dangerous consequences of a naive approach to Presidential summits based entirely on emotion.”

Really Mr. McCain? This position sounds a lot like the last 8 years of diplomacy that we have had, and we all know how well that has been for us.

Barack Obama’s idea to meet with these leaders, I believe is a good decision. I believe that we have to engage these leaders and be forceful with them on diplomacy. Ignoring them only makes the situation worse and allows them time to build up their rogue regime even further. For far too many years now, America has let these leaders do as they please while trying to engage them lightly from across the pond. It doesn’t work, it hasn’t worked, and it will never work until we forcefully engage these leaders and make full well that they understand the conditions and requirements.

America cannot withstand another 4 years of the same broken policies and ideas on the war and foreign policy. America cannot sit by and let this war continue to break down our military, our economy, and our American families.

If you want that, I strongly suggest that you vote for John McCain in November, because that is exactly what you will get from his administration.

If you are ready to end the war in Iraq, focus on the war that we need to be fighting, and make sure that we don’t have to start another war with Iran, then you better be looking closely at Barack Obama as your choice. Barack clearly has the ideas, leadership, and common sense to understand our current foreign policy situation and once again make it something to be proud of.

The choice in November is going to be really, really clear. This is the time to make sure that we as Americans once and for all end the Bush regime and all may follow after it.
