Taylor Marsh did an excellent job of liveblogging the Clinton conference call this morning and I found some surprising stuff that was said during the call.
Reporter: Where was Clinton’s dedication to voter’s rights last fall?
Wolfson: Because of DNC rules, we didn’t expect the turn out to be so huge. “Enormous interest on the part of voters” was very impressive. They were told their votes wouldn’t count, but they came out in droves. We thought they wouldn’t be events at all. The turn out inspired us to honor the votes. You can argue about the motivation of everyone on this issue. At the end of the day it’s not about anyone but the voters. It’s a bedrock of our democracy that when people cast votes they should be counted. Let’s focus on the people that cast their votes. They didn’t make the decision. They came out and voted in good faith, in overwhelming numbers. This is a bedrock principle of our democracy.
Howard Wolfson admitted during the conference call this morning that they are fighting for the MI votes because of the turnout.
But wait, it gets even better….
Reporter: You’re saying turn out changed your position. If only 250,000 people came out would their votes not counted?
Wolfson: If 5,000 came out there would have been less of a case, but I don’t know the magic number. However, the turn out was huge. Both sides have now taken a side that the status quo is untenable. Both now believe you cannot ignore the votes. Now we’re argue whether they should be half ignored or fully ignored. “The Rubicon has been crossed by the Obama campaign.” Now do we honor them half or full.
So, Howard Wolfson basically said that if only 5,000 people had voted, they would likely not even fight for those voters. I cannot read that any other way. That is absurd, idiotic, and outright appalling to even think of making such remark.
So let me get this straight…..All this time that Clinton has been talking about FL/MI voters being counted because it is a “Democratic principal” and because it is at the “core of the Democratic process” is only dependent on the amount of voter turnout? Knowing that 600,000 voted in Michigan makes her fight for them to be counted, but 5,000 votes would not? Thanks Sen. Clinton, you are a true Democratic patriot.
Once again Hillary Clinton is proving that the Democratic party does not matter to her and she will stomp on it at the drop of a hat if it means her getting her way, and that fully includes stealing the Democratic nomination by any means necessary.
It is becoming more and more clear to me everyday that Sen. Clinton is not looking out for the betterment of her party, but solely for the betterment of herself. That is something that I will not support as a Democrat.
