As Richard Gizbert points out in his new Huffington Post piece, there is a revolution going on in this country and it is something that many people appear to not be recognizing.
Over the weekend, Barack Obama held an event in Portland that drew an estimated crowd of 75,000 people.
75,000 people. Think about that for a second…..
Now, tell me the last time that any politician, running for any office, had that kind of crowd for a political event? You are very unlikely to name one. That one single event alone should tell you that something really amazing is happening in this country and things are looking really, really good.
Barack Obama has engaged the American people like no one else has ever been able to do. He has managed to mobilize his core supporters on a level that is truly unbelievable. He has raised money that is unheard of in political campaigning and he has built a grassroots coalition that is quite stunning in size and voice.
The Portland event was quite honestly breezed over by the majority of the media. It was mentioned here and there but certainly failed to gain major headlines, which is surprising, because an event of that magnitude doesn’t come along very often.
If you can look past the constant coverage of the Democratic race, which was pretty much over in February, you will surely notice that Obama is creating a political revolution in this country and it is only just beginning. With his 50 state voter drive just now kicking off, and his more than 1 million registered supporters, Obama is preparing for a general election that is going to blitz the GOP like a 330lb. lineman.
The general election is going to be really ugly, I can see it already starting to brew. Just look at how much Obama and McCain are already going back and forth on issues, and it is clear to see that the general election is going to be full of blows back and forth. Obama is prepared for that fight, McCain however is not.
John McCain has virtually no support base and appears to be doing little to create one. Obama on the other hand has embraced the power of the Internet and social media to create a base that is strong and ready to fight for their candidate. This truly is a revolution in the making and if you are not in there yet, you certainly should become a part of it.
Throughout this campaign, Barack Obama has shown that when people really want change, and they have a message that they can believe in, they will rise up and do extraordinary things. What you are going to see from here on out is only going to get bigger and better.
The train is moving through the station pretty fast here my friend, I suggest you jump on, hold on, and enjoy the ride. You are about to see the face of politics be changed forever. I strongly suggest that you don’t miss it, as it might be quite some time before you ever get the opportunity to witness it again.
