There has been a lot of talk lately about this election cycle being a bad one for the GOP and it appears to have some merit to it. The GOP have already lost some key seats in the House and they appear to be at risk of losing several more, along with losing the White House in November.
Politico has a great article up talking about the GOP and their recent polling results, which are showing some horrific numbers. At this point in time, the American people are seriously frustrated with Republicans and the results are showing it. What should also be troubling for the GOP are the increased numbers in voter registrations, particularly Democrats.
Voter registrations are up immensely this election cycle and the Democrats are picking up huge numbers of new voters looking to have their voice heard.
I find this statement particularly interesting:
Things are so bad that many people don’t even want to call themselves Republicans. The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press has found the lowest percentage of self-described Republicans in 16 years of polling.
I find it odd that Republicans only want to be Republicans when things are going good, which has not been happening much for the last 8 years. It always amuses me to listen to Republicans try to spin their party ideas, policies, and stance as though they are the compassionate ones, or the ones that are most in touch with America.
The Democrats have the opportunity this cycle to really make some heavy changes to the outlook of this country. By gaining more seats in the House and Senate, and the real possibility of gaining the White House back, it really is looking pretty grim for the GOP.
They are getting nervous and they should be, as the Democrats are set to take over and put into motion what this country has needed for quite some time.
