Wow, last night was one of the most riveting nights in politics that I have seen in quite some time. In what was thought to be a 50/50 split going on, turned into a real game-changer and almost a complete upset.
As of 1:00am Eastern Time, most networks still could not call the Indiana primary simply because it was too close to call. They did finally call it right around 1:15am for Clinton. North Carolina was called for Obama the minute the polls closed and was a second thought all night long.
I really think this says it all!
Sen. Barack Obama won the North Carolina primary in heavy fashion, but the real surprise came in Indiana, where he almost pulled the “final nail in the coffin” upset. Sen. Hillary Clinton managed to squeak out a 2-point win in Indiana, but it was certainly all for not.
This is the beginning of the end for Hillary Clinton.
The math simply says it is impossible for her to move ahead in any of the realistic metrics that we use to determine these races. Even with Florida and Michigan thrown into the mix, she can’t do it, and she knows it.
Sen. Obama managed to overcome the Bitter-Gate comments, Rev. Wright, and his patriotism claims to show America that he is the right person to lead this country. His speech last night was uplifting, as all of his speeches are, and once again, Obama has found his voice among the cynics.
Sen. Clinton appeared to almost concede the race last night in her speech, but apparently has vowed to move on and continue the process. I think last night really put it into perspective for her and will now force her to really make some tough decisions moving forward, but move forward she will be doing.
The next several days are going to be very interesting. As the remainder of the week plays out, I think we will really see this race close down. The media is already saying it’s over, and I agree. It is time to end this and let the Democratic party move forward, united, for a better America.
