Gen. David Petraeus will be addressing the Senate today in two hearings on the Iraq war. Petraeus is set to give a progress report on the war as well as his suggestions on moving forward with the conflict.
Petraeus will first address the Senate Armed Forces Committee where Sen. John McCain and Sen. Hillary Clinton both hold seats. Petraeus will then address the Senate Foreign Relations Committee where Sen. Barack Obama holds a seat.
Some tough questions are expected to be asked today in an effort to get a thorough report on exactly what is and is not happening on the ground in Iraq.
I am sure this story will be all over the blogs and the evening news shows tonight, so it should be interesting to see what unfolds as the day goes along. I imagine that all of three of the presidential candidates will take this opportunity to boost their positions on the Iraq war. There should be some interesting sound bites coming out of these hearings today.
