After repeated attempts at trying to come up with a resolution to their voting mishap, Michigan has confirmed that there will be no new vote taking place in the state for the Democratic Primary race.
According to a CNN article:
“We have concluded that it is not practical to conduct such a primary or caucus,” the state party’s executive committee said in a written statement. But they added they will continue to work with the Democratic National Committee and elected officials to ensure that the state is represented at the party convention in Denver this August.
I believe that this is the right decision to make. The state of Michigan broke party rules, and now the party needs to abide by those rules.
While I do believe that voters are being suppressed in the deal, that is the fault of the state, not the DNC, and therefore it is the state and it’s party representatives that should be held responsible. The rules are put into place for a reason and should not be bent for the sake of trying to change an election outcome.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Clinton will not see it that way.
