In a post over at CQ Politics, it appears as though donors from the now defunct John Edwards presidential campaign, have been donating at a 2-to-1 margin to Sen. Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton.
Of Obama’s record $56 million dollar month, former Edwards supporters contributed roughly $200,000 to the Obama campaign. In total, there were 287 former Edwards supporters that contributed to Obama, versus 138 former Edwards supporters contributing about $114,000 to Mrs. Clinton.
Could an endorsement be coming soon?
Rumors are floating around that a John Edwards endorsement could be coming up really soon. In his first public speech since dropping out of the presidential race, Edwards said:
“I have a very high opinion of both of them,” Edwards said at the Young Democrats of North Carolina convention. “We would be blessed as a nation to have either one of them as president.”
When asked about a possible endorsement, he later went on to say:
“When I have something to say, I’ll let you know.”
So, while an endorsement is not likely over the next few days, it could be coming right around time for the PA primary on April 22nd. A John Edwards endorsement would be a huge pick up for either candidate. Shoring up the former support of Edwards would certainly help either candidate that he chose to endorse.
Who do you think a John Edwards endorsement would help more, Obama or Clinton? I would love to hear your thoughts, so comment on it below.
