Sec. Rice this morning addressed the concern of the breaking news yesterday that Sen. Barack Obama’s passport file and had been breached by contract workers at the State Dept.

While the story is big, I am not sure that much will end up coming out about this. I find it odd that it did in fact happen on 3 different occasions, by 3 different employees. It is unclear at this point if there were any political motivations behind the security breach, but the Justice Dept. is monitoring the Obama probe into exactly what took place.

The striking part about this story, is the fact that senior-level officials at the State Dept. just learned of this yesterday. Clearly, someone was trying to cover their tracks and not let this become public news. How this not move up the ladder to senior-level officials is not known at this point, but is likely to surface in the coming days as more info about this story is revealed.
